As easy to launch as it is to operate, the Hobie One-14 is the ideal
beginner's boat. And it's so much fun, even seasoned sailors will
appreciate its easy handling! It is designed for stability with
positive foam floatation that makes it virtually unsinkable. The
Hobie One-14 comes equipped with Hobie Cat's exclusive non-conductive
COMPTIP [TM] mast. Sailing time is family time,
and the Hobie One-14's self-bailing, eight-foot nonskid cockpit makes
sure your sail is comfortable. A storage box keeps food, camera and
extra clothes from getting wet, while Plexiglas splash guards keep

Some History (any corrections/updates appreciated) According to an article in the Hobie Hotline, "In 1982 Coleman purchased Vagabond Sailboats, which became a division of Coast Catamaran under the direction of Ron Holder, former Vagabond president. What became known as the Hobie (originally, Vagabond; currently, Hobie One) line of mononulls soon was being produced at the Hobie Cat production facilities in San Juan Capistrano and Oceanside (later wholly in Oceanside when the San Juan Capistrano mould facility closed in 1987 and joined the rest of the family down the coast)." From talking to dealers, the last production year was 1995 which coincided with Hobie Cat's introduction of The Wave catamaran. |
